Position Overview

Stratosphere Quality is seeking a highly skilled Quality Engineer / Quality Controller to join our team on a 6-month contract, with the potential to convert to full-time. This role is critical to ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality while supporting ISO compliance and driving process improvements.


 

Essential Job Function

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform quality assessments on incoming materials and outgoing products per documented inspection standards.

  • Reject nonconforming materials/products and complete appropriate reject documentation.

  • Organize and maintain inspection reports and records from internal inspection teams.

  • Lead the Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) process, ensuring accurate documentation and timely communication with inspectors.

  • Manage the company’s ISO certification process: conduct internal audits, coordinate with external auditors, and support ISO-related improvements across the organization.

  • Communicate with customers’ quality and procurement departments to resolve nonconformance issues.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to determine product requirements.

  • Measure product dimensions, evaluate functionality, and verify compliance with specifications.

  • Recommend and implement improvements to production and inspection processes to enhance quality, reduce risk, and improve cost efficiency.

  • Collaborate with production teams to create and deliver training plans for productivity and compliance.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve quality-related issues quickly and effectively.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards required.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.

  • Strong math skills, including metric/English conversions.

  • Experience with audits, inspections, and quality documentation preferred.
